Nils Daugulis has over 30 years experience in the practice of International Maritime Law as a litigation lawyer acting for major ship owners, charterers, international insurers of shipping and shipping interests generally. Over the years he served as Chair or Member of the Organizing Committee of numerous International Conferences.


Nils brings to Venue West the prospective of the International Congress client and ensures that Venue West meets the highest standards offering state of the art technology and professional, dedicated staff.



Sue holds a BA from Western University. Her experience with high profile organizing began when she was contracted by Ontario Housing to integrate 12,000 low and high income residents into a Toronto community.


This highly experimental program was one of the first of its kind in Canada. From there she brought her experience to the United Nations Habitat Conference, where she took on the position of Accommodation, Registration and Accreditation Manager for the Conference held in Vancouver. This United Nations Conference brought together 147 countries and in its day was the highest profile conference to come to Vancouver. Sue has never looked back and has more years of experience in conference organizing and management than she is prepared to admit to.



Stephanie has worked in the meeting and association management sector for over 20 years. She graduated with an MA from UBC and has provided public relations, executive director, and meeting management services to a number of medical and scientific societies on a national and international level.


Stephanie, acting in the capacity of VP of Operations, provides systems and needs analysis to Venue West and ensures that the company’s high standards and progressive policies are met and exceeded. Her work includes the management of operational matters in house as well as bringing her meeting and association management skills to the needs of our clients’ conference planning committees.

John is an Honors graduate of the University of Victoria, Peter B. Gustavson School of Business with a double major in Service Management and Entrepreneurship. Within those disciplines John excelled in marketing, management accounting, strategic planning, as well as service business operations and sustainability.


Over his university years, John worked with Venue West during the summers, during his business degree co-op, throughout the final year of his degree and joined Venue West full time in 2012. In that time John was instrumental in implementing many new processes to ensure that Venue West’s conference management technology stays at the leading edge in all respects, as well as implementing processes to reduce the environmental impact of Venue West and its clients. John now leads the Sales and Marketing department, working with national and international conferences.



Kat is an internationally-experienced project manager, having managed meetings and conferences in Poland, Australia and Canada. Her experience is in end-to-end management of conferences in the corporate, healthcare and education sectors. Kat holds a Masters of Finance and Banking and has strong financial acumen which combined with her project management capabilities, consistently provide her clients with reassurance of a well-managed conference within defined budgets.


Kat speaks Polish and English fluently, and has lived and worked around the world. Kat brings her great passion for conference organizing and practical commercial expertise to every project she works on.



Francesca holds a Master's Degree in Corporate Communication. For several years, she has worked in event planning as well as organizing sailing competitions hosted by prestigious Yacht Clubs throughout Italy.


After moving to Canada, she specialized in Tourism Management at the British Columbia Institute of Technology in Vancouver, with a special focus on Meeting and Convention Planning. Francesca joined Venue West in 2012 and is now a valuable addition to the team, managing national and international conferences and exhibitions.

Patricia completed her Bachelor of Arts degree at Simon Fraser University and joined the conference management industry with prior experience in the medical, sales, administration and education fields. Over the past 15 years, Patricia has functioned in a wide range of management capacities for National and International conventions within Canada, the US and Asia. With Patricia’s experience in both sales and operations, she combines her dedication, extreme organizational skills, and a keen eye for detail towards every aspect of managing an event. Maintaining a strong commitment to mentorship, team empowerment and always having an open door policy is her definition of leadership.

Anne joined Venue West as a project manager in early 2018 with more than 15 years of work experience in the events and exhibition industry. Having lived and worked in both Germany and Belgium, she has organized corporate and government events, as well as trade shows all across Europe and around the world. Anne developed a love for languages at an early age and is fluent in German, English, and French, and also has a good knowledge of Spanish. She thrives the most when working in a global environment and by constantly looking to providing impeccable service to her clients who appreciate her well-structured project management skills, great commitment, responsiveness and hands-on mentality.

June has a bachelor’s degree in marketing from the Langara School of Management and has been working in the marketing industry since 2013. Throughout that time, she has worked on successful brand campaigns with start-ups, non-profits and large corporations. As the Marketing Manager at Venue West Conference Services, June is always looking for new ways to create value for clients.


From leveraging social media promotion to building digital communities around a congress, she loves creating communication and promotional strategies that work. Her mandate is simple, create meaningful connections between our clients and their delegates.

Maria has worked in the conference and events industry for over 2 years and brings an additional 10 years of customer service and sales experience including 3 years in management. She is consistently remembered for her superb and effortless flair for client relations and attention to details. Despite some very busy days and tight project timelines, she is always smiling while delivering perfectly executed events and is known to build a very warm rapport with everyone she comes in contact with.


Bringing energy, enthusiasm, patience and detail to each project, she delivers exceptional results while managing our DMC projects. Her first client at Venue West boasts, "you’re in good hands when Maria is onsite".


Misha has lived abroad for the majority of her life, thus developing strong cross-cultural and interpersonal communication skills that has allowed her to build quality-working relationships with clients. Bilingual in both French and English and conversational in Indonesian, she has always had an ear for languages!


Misha graduated from Simon Fraser University with a Bachelor of Arts (Major in Mass Communication) which led her into the marketing industry for 3 years post-graduation.


Exposed to the hospitality industry from a young age combined with her (now) years of experience in customer service, Misha understands and values the importance of what it means to provide quality service to clients.

May completed her studies in Brazil, graduating in with a Bachelor in Graphic Design with a major in Marketing. May’s love of problem solving, planning and executing a task to perfection led her into the events industry and she has never looked back. She is a people person who loves to interact with clients, colleagues and vendors while working towards creating the best possible event. May brings creativity, attention to detail and an abundance of passion to her work and is an excellent addition to our team!


Quick Jiang

Quick is a Microsoft Certified Professional Systems Engineer, with over 20 years experience in computer data analysis, web program design and network administration. He has a Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Information Management, is proficient with .NET, Visual Basic, C Sharp, SQL development on Windows environment.


Quick ensures that Venue West stays on the cutting edge of the latest in technology and supports the development of Conference Registration pages and customized Conference Websites.



Assistant Vice President

As the Assistant Vice President, Gunnar is in charge of office morale and alerting everyone when someone enters the office.  He also makes sure that everyone has a companion when they are eating lunch and will clean up any mess.
